Mrs. Wilma Maxine Davis Ashley, better known as "Maxine", age 77, of West Jefferson passed away Monday night, July 22 2013 at Margate Health and Rehab. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 1:30 P.M. at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Powers and Rev. Paul Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends of Friday, July 26, 2013 at 12:30 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. prior to the funeral at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Ashley was born in Iredell County on Wednesday, January 8, 1936 to the late Sam and Stella Barkley Davis. Maxine was a member of Gap Creek Baptist Church. She was a sewing machine operator in a textile factory. She travelled a lot and loved every minute of it. She is preceded in death by her sister Norma Davis. She is survived by her husband, Leonard Ashley, of 59 years of marriage; a son, Lynn Ashley and wife, Evalyn Eldreth Ashley of Fayetteville, NC; a brother, Lloyd Davis, of Troutman, NC; a sister, Janice Hemstead of Statesville, NC; three grandchildren, Victoria Ashley, Patrick Ashley and Daniel Ashley; several nieces, several nephews.
