Mr. John George Heufel, Jr., age 83, currently of Jefferson, NC and previously of Dade City, FL, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Margate Health and Rehabilitation Center in Jefferson, NC. Private services will be held at National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Family request that no food or flowers be sent. Memorials may be made to VFW Post 4283, PO Box 484, Dade City, FL 33526-0484 or First Presbyterian Church in Dade City, FL. Mr. Heufel was born in Dade City, FL on March 16, 1930. He retired from the United States Air Force after serving 26 years. He and his wife, Ruth (deceased) made their home in Dade City, FL where he was active in his local VFW and church until he moved in 2011 to live in Jefferson, NC. Mr. Heufel is survived by his two sons Fred and wife, Barbara of Jefferson, NC and John G. Heufel, III and wife, Cindy of Montgomery, AL. He also has three frown grandchildren, Wil, Jennifer, and Jason. Also surviving are his sister, Eva Harris and brother, Alfred Heufel of Dade City, FL.
