Obituary of Margaret Sears
Mrs. Margaret Lain Sears, age 89, of West Jefferson, died Thursday morning, August 8, 2013 at her home. The family will receive friends on at Boone Family Funeral Home. Her cremains will be placed next to her late husband in the Memorial Garden at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Cleburne, Texas, where she was long time communicant and volunteer, at a later date.
Mrs. Sears was born in Johnson County, Texas on June 28, 1924 to the late John Lambert Lain and Margaret Lorena Webb. After attending the University of Texas in Austin, she married the late Redford Davis Sears at the First Baptist Church of Washington D.C. on July 8, 1944. Redford was a career Marine Corps officer, and she and Redford raised two sons (Scott Lowrie Sears and John Stephen Sears) along the way in locations such as Quantico, Virginia, Washington, D.C, Camp LeJeune, NC, Camp Pendleton, California, and Houston, Texas. They retired in Cleburne, Texas in 1971. After the passing of her husband, she came to Ashe County to be near her two sons. Mrs. Sears was a communicant of the Episcopal Parish of the Holy Communion. Mrs. Sears was preceded in death by her husband Redford Davis Sears and her son Scott Lowrie Sears of Warrensville, NC. Mrs. Sears is survived by her son John Stephen Sears and his wife Gabriele Sears of Fleetwood, NC; one grandson; Paul Stephen Sears of San Diego, California, and one sister; Mary Lain Purcell of Arlington, TX and two great-grandchildren Tori Renee Sears and Zachary Redford Sears; and her daughter-in-law Barbara Rose Sears of Warrensville, NC, her daughter Kathy Lavigueur, and three grandchildren Beatrix, Billy & Luc Lavigueur
