Obituary of Weldon Roscoe Bare

Mr. Weldon R. Bare, age 94, of West Jefferson, passed away Saturday morning at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00pm at Obids Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Graybeal officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1:00 until 2:00pm, one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm Sunday evening at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Bare was born in Ashe County on July 8, 1914 to the late Thomas Jordan and Minnie Elizabeth Liddle Bare. Weldon was a member of the Obids Baptist Church in West Jefferson where he also served as a Deacon for many years. His work was on his own farm which he done for many years and enjoyed tending to it. Mr. Bare was also preceded in death by one daughter, Fern Marie Bare and one granddaughter, Demedia Bare. He is survived by three sons, Charles and wife Betty Jordan Bare of Rutherfordton, Dean and wife Mary Roten Bare of West Jefferson, Raymond and wife Margaret Lewis Bare of West Jefferson; one daughter, Anna Bare and husband James Miller of West Jefferson; one brother, Paul and wife Wanda Weaver Bare of West Jefferson; one sister, Grace Bare and husband Trent Crawford of North Wilkesboro; one sister-in-law, Alice Weaver Bare; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family respectfully requests no food please. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Obids Baptist Church Building Fund, in c/o Margaret Bare, 1325 Old Obids Road, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
