Mrs. Ruth Allen Woods, age 89 of West Jefferson passed away Saturday evening, August 31, 2013 at Watauga Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2013 at 11am at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Eller Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11am one hour prior to the funeral services. Mrs. Woods was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, Marsh 5, 1924 to the late Winton and Gladys Gentry Ashley. She was a Homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Claude Woods. She is survived by one son; J.C. Woods and wife Frances of Creston; two daughters; Wanda Lyle and husband Bill of Charlotte and Peggy Brown and husband Bill of West Jefferson; three sisters; Helen Allen of West Jefferson, Valice Wyatt of Statesville, and Joann Davis of Albemarle; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
