Mr. Terry Durand Sheets, age 61, of Jefferson, passed away Thursday night, October 24, 2013 at his home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 1:00pm at Glendale Springs Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lonnie Jones and Rev. Sidney Crunk officiating with military rites. A private burial will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends after the memorial service in the fellowship hall. Mr. Sheets was born in Ashe County on Monday, July 7, 1952 to the late Moulton and Jessie Bledsoe Sheets. He served in the United States Air Force, where he worked as an Air Traffic Controller. He was a Mechanical Engineer for the Blue Ridge Parkway. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Phil Sheets and Xan Sheets. Mr. Sheets is survived by a very special friend, Robin Calhoun, of West Jefferson; two brothers, David Sheets and Drew Sheets, of Glendale Springs; two sisters, Sharon Langhorne, of Gerrardstown, WV and Judy Shatley, of Jefferson; several nieces and nephews also survive.
