Mrs. Lottie Osborne Calhoun, age 90, of Jefferson passed away on Friday afternoon, November 15, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 7pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Dollar, Rev. Larry Shepherd, Rev. Eddie Lewis, Rev. David Lyalls, and Minister Danny Miller officiating. Graveside service will be held Monday, November 18, 2013 at 2pm at the Ham Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 5-7pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Calhoun was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, May 16, 1923 to the late Jim and Lelar Eastridge Osborne. Lottie worked hard all her life but had many talents. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and cooking. After working 20 years, Lottie retired from Sprague Electric. She worked for Senior Companion until the last three years of her life. Lottie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude Calhoun; two sisters, Jocie Osborne and Juanita Patrick; five brothers, Odis Osborne, Odell Osborne, Phem Osborne, Ellihue Osborne and Rottis Osborne; several step children, Paris Lewis, Henrietta Powers, Offie Rhodes, Katherine Miller, Maxine Bragg, Virgil Calhoun, Cecil Calhoun, Bernard Calhoun and Bill Ham. Mrs. Calhoun is survived by a daughter, Imojean Ham, of Lansing; a step-daughter, Geraldine Calhoun McNeil, of Jefferson; a sister, Ruth Barker, of West Jefferson; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nice great, great grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; several step great-great grandchildren; and one step great great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
