Mr. Dexter Vaughn Osborne, age 74, of Lansing, passed away Tuesday night, February 17, 2009 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Graveside service with military rites will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 11:00am at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Creston with Rev. Anthony Roark officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm Friday, February 20, 2009 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Osborne was born in Ashe County on April 22, 1934 to the late Joel and Pearl Pennington Osborne. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Skyline Telephone Company, where he worked as a lineman. Dexter enjoyed playing Bluegrass and Gospel music. When he was able, he also loved going to church. He is survived by his wife, Minnie Patrick Osborne; four daughters, Sara Osborne of Lansing, Ann Houck and husband, Roger of Crumpler, Jeannie Tumbiolo and husband, Tim of Blowing Rock and Sherry Pettry and husband, Donnie of Conover; a brother, Dean Osborne of Statesville; a sister, Deanna Cox of Mountain City, TN; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family respectfully requests no food please. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
