Obituary of Hazel Marie Phipps
Mrs. Hazel Marie Bennett Phipps, age 81, of Lansing passed away Saturday evening at her home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 2:00pm at Meadowview Mennonite Church with Rev. Larry Peak, Rev. Tom Vestal and Rev. Dan Hess officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview-Carpenter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Phipps was born Kingsport, TN on Sunday, June 26, 1932 to the late William Chogle and Gladys Lewis Bennett. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and quilting. She had a love for her animals also such as her songs birds, "Baby and Baby Blue; Gracie, her cat and her dog, Jake. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Hazel loved the Lord and will be missed by all.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bethel Elmer Phipps; a brother, Donald Rufus Bennett and a grandson, Jacob Daniel Phipps.
Mrs. Phipps is survived by six sons, Elmer Phipps and wife, Mary, of Glendale Springs, Eddie Phipps and wife, Lisa, of Lansing, Randall Phipps and wife, Prisicilla, of Jefferson, Gary Phipps, of Lansing, Dewie Phipps and wife, Kerri, of Morganton and Jeff Phipps and wife, Diane, of Purlear, NC; a daughter, Linda Silvers and husband, Keith, of Anniston, Alabama; three brothers, James Bennett, of Jefferson, Gale Bennett, of Jefferson and Herman Bennett, of West Jefferson; two sisters, Shirley Turner, of Crumpler and Lois Steed, of Lake Norman; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will be meeting at the home of Elmer and Mary Phipps at 8812 Hwy 16 South in West Jefferson.
