Mr. Truett Lahugh Perkins, better known as "Sonny" age 69, of West Jefferson passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013 morning at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 2:00 P.M at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaver Creek Christian Church Cemetery with Military Rites. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service at Boone Family Funeral Home. Truett Lahugh Perkins was born in Sullivan County, Tennessee on Saturday, November 25, 1944 to the late Albert H. and Mable Rose Johnson Perkins. He was a produce manager for Ingles Grocery Store in Spruce Pine, North Carolina and Walmart in West Jefferson, North Carolina. Truett served our country during the Vietnam war in the U.S. Navy. A knowledgable and kind man that will be missed by his family and friends. Mr. Perkins is survived by one son, Anthony Scott Perkins of Mishawaka, Indiana; one daughter, Rebecca Michelle Carpenter of Canastota, New York; two brothers, Gary Wayne Perkins of Marion, North Carolina, Edward H. Perkins and wife Carol of Orlando, Florida; a former sister-in-law, Rita Auld Perkins of Bakersville, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Brandon Carpenter of Canastota, New York, Cody Carpenter of Canastota, New York; a niece, Teresa Perkins of Marion, North Carolina; two nephews, Edward Perkins Jr. of Concord, North Carolina, Steven Perkins of Concord, North Carolina.
