Mr. Glenn Allen Wood, better known as the "Sheriff", age 84, of Jefferson passed away Wednesday evening, January 29, 2014 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services are will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Wood. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Wood was born in Ashe County on Tuesday, December 24, 1929 to the late Ambrose and Florence Gilley Wood. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Retha Doris Miller Wood, a son, Jerry Wood; three infant sons. Mr. Wood is survived by two sons, Roger Wood and wife, Lydia, of Millers Creek, NC and Michael Wood and wife, Sharon, of Marion, VA; a daughter, Debbie Jones and husband, Larry, of Warrensville; a daughter-in-law, Pam Wood, of Wilkesboro; a sister, Edith Stansberry, of Lansing; four grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
