Mr. Jack Edward Bumgardner, age 72, of West Jefferson passed away Thursday morning, January 30, 2014 at Mountain Living Adult Care Home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Dollar and Rev. Ken Furches officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Sunday, February 2, 2014, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Bumgardner was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, August 6, 1941 to the late Walter George and Beryl Ellen Arnold Bumgardner. He worked as a carpenter. He loved to listen to bluegrass and country music. He played the guitar, banjo and fiddle. He was also preceded in death by his companion, Sue Brooks. Mr. Bumgardner is survived by a step daughter, Dawn Mayberry, of Crumpler; a step granddaughter, Lilliana Mayberry; several cousins also survives.
