Mrs. Edith Parsons Roten, age 97, of Jefferson passed away Monday morning, February 24, 2014 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 11 am at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. George Grubb, Rev. David Lyalls, and Rev. Tommy Dollar officiating. Burial will follow in the Welch Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 7-9pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Roten was born in Ashe County on Sunday, December 3, 1916 to the late John and Ellen Jones Parsons. She was head cook at Sprague Electric Company. She was a long standing member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. A loving mother and grandmother, she will be missed by all. She is preceded in death by two daughters; Christina Waddell and Wanda Eldreth; one grandson; Ian Crepps; three sisters; Bernice Elliott, Grace Calhoun, and Hazel Stanley; two brothers; Jones Parsons and Conley Parsons. She is survived by; one son; J.W. Roten, of West Jefferson; one daughter; Nancy Roten, of Jefferson; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers accepted.
