Mr. Calvin Eugene Toliver, Jr. age 89, of Todd passed away Saturday evening, March 22, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Lt. Col. Cal Brown and Rev. Ron Drake officiating. Burial will follow in the Toliver Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Tuesday, two hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Toliver was born in Ashe County on Monday, March 24, 1924 to the late Calvin Eugene and Biddie Perkins Toliver. He served in the United States Army during World War II. After the service, he worked as a Timber Cutter. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; and will be missed by all. He was also preceded in death his wife, Monedi Forrestor Toliver; a son, Bob Toliver; three brothers, Ray N. Toliver, Earl Toliver and Mace Toliver; a sister, Alta Toliver. Mr. Toliver is survived by three sons, Lt. Col. Cal Brown and wife, Dianne, of Huntsville, Alabama, Dale Toliver and wife, Arna, of Todd and Larry Toliver and companion, Tammy, of Johnson City, TN; a daughter, Hilda Moore and husband, Bobby, of Kernersville, NC, two brothers, Shirley Toliver, of Todd and Herbert Toliver, of Cockerville, PA; a sister, Louise Adams, of Oxford, PA; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
