Obituary of Miriam Trainum

Mrs. Miriam Clark Trainum, age 80, of West Jefferson, passed away Sunday morning, May 18, 2008 at the Watagua Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 11am at the Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Lewis Poag officiating. A gathering of friends will follow the memorial service in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Trainum was born in Buffalo, New York on September 10, 1927 to the late Vern and Florence Jessie Button Clark. Miriam was an active member at the Bethany United Methodist Church where she also served as President of the WMU. During her life she was an avid Bridge player. She also served as President of some Garden Clubs in the states of Virginia and Delaware. She was very supportive of Visual Arts and thoroughly enjoyed collecting antiques. Most of all, Mrs. Trainum was a loving wife and mother. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Col. Walter Clark. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Carlton Trainum; two daughters, Carla Trainum and husband Rick Mullins of Rutherfordton, Karon Paul of Wilmington; one brother, Vern W. Clark, Jr. of Williamsburg, Virginia; a sister-in-law, Dee Dee Clark of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren, Amanda Holliday and husband Cade of Wilmington, Aaron Paul of Wilmington and one first cousin, Gail Womble of Bear, Delaware. Memorials may be made to the Bethany United Methodist Church WMU, 495 NC Hwy. 194 South, West Jefferson, NC 28694 or to the American Heart Association, c/o Judy Leek, 206 Oak Grove Circle, Jefferson, NC 28640.
