Obituary of Robert Jackson Troutman
Mr. Robert Jackson Troutman, better known as Bob, age 82, of West Jefferson passed away on Monday, April 21, 2008 at home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 2:00pm at West Jefferson United Methodist Church, 107 Second Street in West Jefferson with Rev. Kirk McNeill officiating. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 1:00pm at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Wednesday, one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Mr. Troutman was born in Hickory, NC on June 22, 1925 to the late Zebulon Sylvanus and Era Merle Troutman. He served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He graduated from NC State University in 1950 with a B.S. Degree in Industrial Engineering. He was the past president of NC Dimension Association and a past exalted ruler Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks in Hickory, NC. He founded Jefferson Wood Products of West Jefferson in 1964. He was an active member of the West Jefferson United Methodist Church before his illness.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, William J. Troutman and James R. Troutman; a sister, Polly Troutman Brady
He is survived by his wife, Frances Cox Troutman, of the home; a son, Brad Troutman and wife, Melanie, of Clemmons, NC; a daughter, Kristy Troutman, of Charlotte, NC; three grandsons, Adam Troutman, Taylor Troutman and Graham Troutman; six nieces and two nephews also survive.
