Mr. Dwight Allen Darnell, age 62, of Laurel Springs, passed away on Wednesday night, May 28, 2008 in Laurel Springs. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lonnie Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Darnell Woodie Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Darnell was born in Ashe County on Saturday, March 2, 1946 to Ardle and Cordie Woodie Darnell. He worked as a Supervisor for Tyson Foods, Inc. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cordie Woodie Darnell on August 15, 2005 and an infant sister, Annie Ruth Darnell. He is survived by a daughter, Chiquitha Ackerman of Laurel Springs; his father, Ardle Darnell, of Laurel Springs; a special friend & caregiver, Shirley McCoy, of Laurel Springs; five brothers, George Bill Darnell, Roger Darnell and Gary Darnell, all of Wilkesboro, Ardle Darnell, Jr. Rocky of Millers Creek and JD Darnell, of Ashe County; four sisters, Joyce Pruitt, Peggy Hart and Mildred Bowlin, all of Laurel Springs and Linda Barker of Jefferson; a granddaughter, Chasiti Ackerman, of Laurel Springs; ten nieces and eight nephews also survive.
