Mr. Ralph Talmadge Sheets, age 91, of Laurel Springs passed away Friday morning, June 6, 2008 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Lovelace, Rev. Sam Hawkins and Rev. Lonnie Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Sheets Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Sunday, two hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Sheets was born in Wilkes County on April 21, 1917 to the late Clyde Fenton and Etta Dancy Sheets. He is survived by his wife, Hattie Bare Sheets, of the home; three sons, Gilbert Sheets and wife, Peggy of Roaring River, James Sheets and wife, Pam, of Miller Creek and Larry Sheets of Laurel Springs; four daughters, Shirley Mabe and husband, E.J. of Laurel Springs, Shelia Wheeler of Laurel Springs, Barbara Carter and husband, Freddie, of Cooleemee, NC and Linda Miller and husband, Billy, of Myrtle Beach, SC; four sisters, Dell Sheets of Kannapolis, Clo Sheets of Mooresville, Rae Long of Arkansas and Gay Powell of Taylorsville; eighteen grandchildren, Greg Call, Ginger Shumate, Donna Hartsoe, Michael Sheets, Stephen Sheets, Ricky Mabe, Kenny Mabe, Kevin Mabe, Randy Mash, Lisa Sharp, Michelle Amburgy, Bobby Joe Taylor, Kimberly White, Nikki Miller, Jamie Sheets, Julie Sheets, Chad Little and Laramie Sheets; thirty-five great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Sheets was a Christian and loved serving the Lord. He was a faithful member at the Ebenezer Community Church for many years. He was an avid hunter, particularly for turkeys, and also enjoyed fishing.
