Mrs. Alice Irene Barr Poe, age 80, of Lansing, passed away Friday night, June 6, 2008 at Margate Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 5:30pm at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Shepherd and Rev. Lundy Finley officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:30-5:30 pm, one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Poe was born in Ashe County on January 26, 1928 to the late Harrison and Rosa Love Barr. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Poe. She is survived by one daughter, Jarrett Miller of Lansing; one son, Junior Dolinger of West Jefferson; three brothers, Denver Barr of Taylorsville, Carl Barr of Moravian Falls and Jimmy Barr of Moravian Falls; two sisters, Esta Patton of Lansing and Lilly Frasier of Moravian Falls; several nieces and nephews also survive.
