Mrs. Ruth Virginia Killen Yates, age 96, of West Jefferson, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at 2:00pm at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Furches officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00-2:00 pm, one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Perkins Family Cemetery. Mrs. Yates was born in Ashe County on June 5, 1912 to the late Sidney and Susie Bare Killen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Vascoe Yates. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Flowers are appreciated.
