Obituary of Patricia Ann Garnett

Patricia Patsy Garnett, 50, of Laurel Springs, NC died Tuesday July 8th. She was born 4/23/58 in Richmond, VA. She was employed with Dupont in Richmond, VA. for 20 years. She moved to Lake Gaston, NC in Warren County. She became the first female Fire Chief in Warren County. She also achieved certifications as a North Carolina Fire Instructor, Fire Fighter II, Emergency Medical Tech., and Emergency Services Dispatcher. She gave many volunteer hours and worked for Halifax and North Hampton NC counties with EMS. She worked as a dispatcher for North Hampton County and Alleghany County Sheriffs Department. She served with Laurel Springs Fire Department until she became ill. In the beautiful North Carolina Mountains she found happiness and peace. She is survived by her sissy, Kathryn Mock of their home, daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Steven Schaufelberger and two precious grandchildren, Dalton and Devyn Schaufelberger of Glen Allen, VA. A brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Bob) and Jeannie Allen of Stoney Creek VA. A stepson, Shawn Garnett of Richmond, VA. Her parents, A.C. (Red) and Linda Starke of Covington, VA and Mary Creath Britton of Goochland, VA. Half siblings, Judy Reed and Jim Britton of VA and Sandy Mock of Atlantic Beach, NC. She has several nieces and nephews and three special Whitley children. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday July 19th at 1:00 pm at her home in Laurel Springs.
