Mrs. Ada Mae Roten Wood, age 78, of Creston passed away Friday, July, 11 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Big Laurel Church of Christ in Christian Union with Rev. Darrell Graybeal officiating. Burial will follow in the Roten Cemetery in Creston. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm on Monday, one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Mrs. Wood was born in Ashe County on July 21, 1928 to the late George and Nettie Miller Roten. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James A. Wood and one daughter, Kay Miller. Mrs. Wood is survived by one son, Garland Wood and wife, Debbie of Creston; two daughters, Kathy Baldwin and husband, Dean of West Jefferson, Brenda Dotson and husband, Donald of Todd; two brothers, Carl Roten and wife, Thelma of Creston, Rev. Earl Roten and wife, Sue of West Jefferson; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Flowers are appreciated.
