Mrs. Lucy Johnson Combs, age 82, of Boomer, formerly of Ashe County, passed away Tuesday morning in Boomer. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 2pm at Bristol Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Joe Blevins and Rev. Clyde Holman officiating. Burial will follow in the Poe Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00pm on Thursday at Boone Family Funeral Home. She was born in Ashe County on Sunday, January 3, 1926 to the late James Franklin Johnson and Mattie Jane Day Johnson. She was a member at Bristol Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Carl Combs and a daughter Virginia Hoosier (Sis). Mrs. Combs is survived by four sons, James (Jimbo) Combs and wife Margie, of Jefferson, RC Combs and wife, Debbie, of Jefferson, Ray Combs and wife, Sandra, of West Jefferson and Gerald Johnson and wife, Evelyn, of Statesville; four daughters, Polly Medley and husband, Dean, of Boomer, Faye Jones and husband Emerson, of Wilkesboro, Stella Williams and husband Bobby and Joann Brown and husband, Rick, all of Boomer; a sister, Viola Dillard, of Jefferson; twenty-eight grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers are accepted.
