Obituary of Mammie Rae Miller

Mrs. Mamie Rae Mash Miller, better known as Rae age 77, of Concord, formerly of Ashe County, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2008 North East Medical Center in Concord, NC. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 2pm at Glendale Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the George Miller Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:00pm, prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Miller was born in Ashe County on June 6, 1930 to the late Vonley H. Mash and Maida Severt Mash. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1948 and then married Roy Denver Miller in August of 1948. They moved to the Concord area in 1967. She was primarily a homemaker for her family. Rae was an active member of Central Baptist Church. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, directed Bible School, helped cook for the Youth Camp and helped in leading the Senior Citizens group with her husband. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Wade Mash. She is survived by her husband, Roy Denver Miller, of the home; a daughter, Evelyn Miller Shatley of Concord; three sisters, Myrtle Haynes of Concord, Maxie Severt and Connie McNeil, both of West Jefferson; a brother, Fred Mash of West Jefferson; two granddaughters, Michelle Shatley Thomas and husband Kevin, of Richfield, NC and Nicole Shatley Haire and husband, Mark, of Concord; three great-grandchildren Kaleb, Alyssa and Kyle Thomas; several nieces and nephews also survive.
