Mrs. Sue McMillan Smith, age 96, of Grassy Creek, died Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Alleghany Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 3:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Doug Turnmire. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was born in Alleghany County on February 12, 1912 to the late Robert Bruce and Maude Shepherd McMillan. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Vernel Smith. She is survived by one son, Tom Smith, of Mouth of Wilson; two sisters, Katherine Lessor and Ruth Daniel of Oxford, NC; two grandchildren, Ashley and Carley Smith. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
