Mrs. Rena Johnson Coldiron Darnell, age 89, of Jefferson passed away Wednesday morning, March 19, 2008 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2008 at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Friday, two hours prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Darnell was born in Ashe County on July 4, 1918 to the late Wiley Johnson and Margaret Rose Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her childrens father, Burlie Coldiron; two sons, Burl Dean Coldiron and Bruce Coldiron; two grandchildren. Mrs. Darnell is survived by four sons, Walter Coldiron of Marion, Virginia, Roger Coldiron, Michael Coldiron and Sonny Coldiron, all of Jefferson; four daughters, Louise Steele of Jefferson, Wilma Church of Crumpler, Beatrice Booth of West Jefferson and Lori Wingler of Wilkesboro; a brother, Paul Johnson of Winston-Salem, NC; two sisters, Ruth Sheets of Lansing and Rosie Taylor of Whitetop, VA; fifteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the donors choice.
