Mr. Thomas Lee Rutherford, age 70, of Grassy Creek passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Warner Eller officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm on Tuesday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Rutherford was born in Coalwood, West Virginia on June 1, 1937 to the late Charles Howard and Irene Phipps Rutherford. Mr. Rutherford is survived by his wife, Dorothy Rutherford; one son, Michael Rutherford of Grassy Creek; three daughters, Terri Ford of Grassy Creek, Rhonda Rutherford of Conover, Stacie McCraw of Fancy Gap, Virginia; three brothers, Larry Rutherford of Hancock, Maryland, Charles Howard Rutherford, II, of Grassy Creek, Robert Rutherford of Columbus, Mississippi; two sisters, Margie Anderson and Margaret Cox, both of Independence, Virginia; six grandchildren also survive, Justin Ford, Ashley Bobbitt, Faith McCraw, Brook Rutherford, Brittney Rutherford and Brandy Rutherford. A special care giver, Ruby McGrady; a special friend, Stanley Holdaway and several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted.
