Mrs. Ethel Davis Lyle, better known as Granny age 103, of West Jefferson passed away on Tuesday evening, August 19, 2008 at Segraves Nursing Care Center in Jefferson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2008 at 10:45am at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Elder John Jackson and Elder Larry Blevins officiating. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2008 at 2:30pm at the Davis Family Cemetery with Elder Floyd South and Elder James McNeil officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Boone Family Funeral Home. She was born in Ashe County on December 5, 1905 to the late Elder Edd Davis and Sina Miller Davis. She married Chester Lyle on Valentines Day on February 14, 1925. She was a Homemaker. She was a member of Pond Mountain Primitive Baptist Church, since 1926. Mrs. Lyle traveled extensively among church and associations in the surrounding states. Mrs. Lyle was also preceded in death by her husband, Chester Lyle; a daughter, Beulah Mae Lyle; three brothers, Russell Davis, Worth Davis and Carl Davis; two sisters, Winnie Spencer and Ella Blevins and a daughter-in-law, Diane Lyle. Mrs. Lyle is survived by five sons, Elder Eddie Lyle and wife, Virgie, of West Jefferson, Joe Lyle and wife, Susie, of Jefferson, Vernon Lyle and wife, Elizabeth, of Lansing, Bryan Lyle of Greensboro and Bob Lyle and wife, Sadie, of West Jefferson; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six great, great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will be meeting at the home of Eddie and Virgie Lyle at 1521 Elliott Road in West Jefferson.
