Mr. Leonard Lloyd McAfee, Sr. better known as Mack, age 86, of Jefferson passed away Friday, February 14, 2014at Ashe Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 2:00pm at Grassy Creek United Methodist Church with Pastor Martha Kincaid officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm, one hour prior to the memorial service. Mr. McAfee was born in Pennsylvania on December 12, 1927 to the late Hugh D. and Pearl Elizabeth Fisher McAfee. He served in the Merchant Marines. He worked as a security guard at Jefferson Landing. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Clyde Thompson McAfee on August 30, 2010. Mr. McAfee is survived by a son, Leonard McAfee, Jr. of Mocksville; a daughter, Lonnie McAfee of Crumpler; a step son, Kevin Miller and wife, Elisa, of West Jefferson; three grandchildren, Dalton McAfee, Sarah Caldera and Harley Hodges; a step grandson, Kaden Miller also survive.
