Mrs. Margaret Virginia Kemp Johnson, age 81, of West Jefferson died Saturday evening, March 21, 2009 at the Margate Health and Rehab Center in Jefferson. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kemp-Lewis Cemetery with Rev. Tim Roten officiating. Mrs. Johnson was born on Wednesday, July 6, 1927 in Ashe County to the late Joseph Aaron and Candace Richardson Kemp. She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip Johnson. She retired as a bank teller from the First Union Bank in Ashe County. Mrs. Johnson is survived by one son, Ellis Johnson and wife Twila of Jonesville; one daughter Phyllis Gordon and husband Alan of Chattanooga TN; two brothers, Herbert Kemp of West Jefferson and Wiley Kemp of Penaton, OR; five grandchildren, Phillip Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Garrett Johnson, Jessica Gordon, and Benjamin Gordon.
