Mrs. Roxie Virginia Blackburn Rash, age 96, of Fleetwood, died Wednesday afternoon, May 14, 2014 in Jefferson. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 4:00pm at Laurel Knob Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Rash and Speaker Joe Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00pm on Sunday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Rash was born in Ashe County on Thursday, August 16, 1917 to the late Frank and Lola Bare Blackburn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lloyd Rash; a sister, Argyle Cole and a brother, Joseph Herbert Blackburn. Mrs. Rash is survived by a daughter, Freda Goodman and husband, Michael, of Fleetwood; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a special caregiver, Glenda Rash; several nieces and nephews also survive.
