Mr. Joseph "Joe" Paul Weaver, age 72, of Lansing passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd Day and Rev. Ed Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Haw Orchard Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Weaver was born in Ashe County on Sunday, March 29, 1942 to the late Paul and Helen Osborne Weaver. He retired after 30+ years from Blue Ridge Electric Membership Company. He attended Sturgills Baptist Church and Helton United Methodist Church. Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife, Loretta Johnson Weaver; one daughter, Amy Weaver Cook and husband Mitch of King, NC; one son, Martin Weaver of Lansing; two sisters, Marie Sullivan and husband Bill of Warrensville, and Alia Miller and husband Bill of Lansing and Sterling, VA; three grandchildren, Hampton Cook, Caroline Cook and Joseph M. Weaver; several nieces and nephews; a caregiver, Jim Wiles of Lansing also survive. Pallbearers are Jim Wiles, Andy Powers, Wesley Powers, Mark Sullivan, Daniel Miller, Tim Sturgill, Tommy Sturgill, and Isaac Parsons.
