Mr. Leonard Wayne Ashely, age 82, of West Jefferson passed away Friday evening, June 20, 2014 at Margate Health and Rehab. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends of Monday, June 23, 2014 at 1:00-2:00PM prior to the funeral at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Ashley was born in Ashe County on September 7, 1931 to the late Hamp and Sarah Staley Ashley. He was a great father, and grandfather, and will be missed by all. He is preceded in death by his wife Maxine Davis Ashley of 59 years of marriage. He is survived by one son; Lynn Ashley and wife Evalyn Eldreth Ashley of Fayetteville; one brother, Larry Ashley of Troutman, NC; one sister, Bobby Jean Pharr and husband Gene of Statesville, NC; three grandchildren; Victoria, Patrick, and Daniel Ashley; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
