Mr. Arthur Fred Blevins, age 73, of Lansing, passed away Wednesday evening, March 25, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 3:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Wurth and Rev. Evan Roten officiating. Burial will follow in the Blevins Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00pm on Sunday, two hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Blevins was born in Ashe County on Friday, November 22, 1935 to the late Arthur Lloyd and Lela Massey Blevins. He was owner and operator of Blevins Chair Weaving Company. He is survived by his wife, Oretta Parlier Blevins; three sons, Terry Blevins and wife, Cynthia, Jerry Fred Blevins and wife, Carol and Jeffrey Blevins, all of Lansing; three daughters, Pam Hartsog, of Lansing, Penny Cox and husband, Larry, of West Jefferson and Christy Harris, of Greensboro; three sisters, Ruth Blackburn, of Lansing, Faye Testerman and husband, Jones, of Grassy Creek and Beryl Carter, of Lansing; four brothers, Dean Blevins and wife, Mary Belle, R.L. Blevins and wife, Linda, Rex Blevins and Larry Blevins and wife, Bert, all of Lansing; eight grandchildren, Matthew Blevins, Andrew Blevins, Jeremy Eller, Jason Eller, Chad Blevins, Rachel Roten, Michael Todd Blevins and Jasmine Harris; thirteen great grandchildren, Dalton Eller, Tate Eller, Adrienne Eller, Audrey Eller, Ali Eller, Abby Eller, Grace Blevins, Logan Blevins, Katelyn Blevins, Myia Roten, Kyler Roten, Tucker Roten and Ethan Roten; several nieces and nephews also survive.
