Mrs. Annie Marie Barker Grubb, age 92, of West Jefferson passed away Tuesday morning, July 15, 2014 at Ashe Assisted Living. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Margaret Wannamacher officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1-2pm one hour prior to the funeral services. Mrs. Grubb was born in Ashe County on April 28, 1922 to the late Winfield and Allie Wiles Barker. Marie cooked at several eating establishments and catered for family and friends. She was owner of Marie’s Dress Shop for 25 years. She had a passion for dancing and was a member of Ashe County Dance Club. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband Baxter Grubb of 55 years. Mrs. Grubb is survived by one son, Jeff Grubb and wife Sandy of Jefferson; one daughter, Jekolia “Cokey” Hudler of Jefferson; one brother, Roy Barker of Millers Creek; two sisters, Myrtle Halsey of Jefferson and Louise Severt and husband Johnny of West Jefferson; five grandchildren, Joy Miller and husband David of Jefferson, Stephanie Dollar and fiancé Toby Trivett of Todd, Scott Grubb and wife Jodi of West Jefferson, Justin Grubb and wife Tiffany of West Jefferson, and Hollie Brown and husband Kevin of Fleetwood; nine great- grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
