Mr. Gwyn Earsel Harless, age 80, of West Jefferson, died Thursday morning, July 24, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 2:00PM at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Casey and Rev. Steve Leashomb officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendly Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Saturday, July 26, 2014, two hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Harless was born in Ashe County on Sunday, September 17, 1933 to the late Dave and Nellie Little Harless. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He is a member of Mt. Jefferson Baptist Church. Gwyn loved people and his American flag. He will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Grace Mash Harless; two sons, Norman Harless of West Jefferson and John Harless and wife, Diane, of West Jefferson; a sister, Martha Harless Lane, of Millers Creek; a step-granddaughter, Chasdity Sage; several nieces and nephews also survive.
