Mr. Elmer James Price, age 86, of West Jefferson passed away Wednesday morning, July 30, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Friday, August, 1, 2014 at 1pm at Smethport Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in the West Jefferson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 5:30-9:00PM at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Price was born in Ashe County on March 31, 1928 to the late Harrison Price and Mary Lewis Price. Elmer Price was a loving husband and devoted father. His dedication and loyalty to his friends and family was unwavering. He was an honest and honorable business man who valued Ashe County and his community. Elmer attended Smethport Baptist Church where he loved and served the Lord faithfully. He is preceded in death by a daughter; Wilma Redmond, four brothers; Ervil Price, Burl Price, Carl Price, and Clive Price, and five sisters, Goldie Pennington, Hettie Osborne, Hattie Hooven Edna Osborne, and Ruth Osborne. Mr. Price is survived by his wife Hazel Price, one son; Grant Price and wife Dayna of West Jefferson, one daughter; Janet Gambill and husband Harold of North Wilkesboro, four grandchildren; Chris Redmond of Boone, Tricia Gambill Ellis of Hays, Amanda Price Caldwell of Suffolk, VA, and Meleah Gambill Chatham of North Wilkesboro, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
