Mrs. Zollie Mae Spencer Owen, age 90, of the Nathans Creek Community passed away Sunday night, August 17, 2014 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 3:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Speaker David VanHoy officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00pm on Thursday, two hours prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Owen was born in Rugby, Virginia on Thursday, July 17, 1924 to the late Orie and Wave Spencer. Zollie enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother; and will be missed by all. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Reeves Owen and a son Edwin Lynn "Bud" Owen. Mrs. Owen is survived by three sons, Darell Owen and wife, Mary, of West Jefferson, Allen Owen and wife, Nita, of Raleigh and Curtis Owen and wife, Betsy, of West Jefferson; a daughter, Aleta Owen Blevins and husband, Lanney, of Kingsport, TN; a brother, Thornton Spencer and wife, Emily, of Virginia; five grandchildren, Christy Burke and husband, Josh, Alisha Owen and husband, Dustin Ainolhayat, Emily Fair and husband, Keith, Ory Owen and Evan Owen; three great grandchildren, Carter Burke, Ryan Ainolhayat and Raegan Fair; several nieces and nephews also survive.
