Mr. Howard William Greer, age 90, of Warrensville passed away Thursday morning, October 2, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 2PM at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Dwight Shepherd, Rev. Joey McClure, and Rev. Larry Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the Perry Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 7-9pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Greer was born in Ashe County on January 20, 1924 to the late Roy and Vina Greer. He worked at Thomasville Furniture. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and will be missed by all. He is preceded in death by a son, Ricky Greer and a stepson, Arvil Sawyer. He is survived by his wife, Lola Sawyer Greer; one son; Ervin Greer (Peggy) of Wilkesboro; one daughter; Kathy Keating (Jim) of Lansing two step-sons; Allen Sawyer (Edna) of Warrensville and Steve Sawyer (Wanda); step daughter-in-law; Madge Sawyer; two brothers; Wayne Greer of Jefferson, and Worth Greer of PA; one sister; Lulu Belle Horn of Granite Falls, NC; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren; eleven step great grandchildren; one step great- great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews also survive.
