Mr. Reeves Owen, age 91, of Crumpler, died Tuesday morning, April 7, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2009 at 1pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Julian Owen officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Owen was born in Crumpler, NC on Friday April 13, 1917 to the late Luther Winfield Owen and Myrtie Francis Owen. He served in the United States Army. He was owner and operator of Owen Electric Service. He is survived by his wife, Zollie Spencer Owen; four sons, Bud Owen, Darell Owen and Curtis Owen, all of West Jefferson and Allen Owen, of Raleigh, NC; a daughter, Aleta Blevins of Kingsport, TN; a brother, Pozy Owen of Crumpler; five sisters, Kada McNeill of Jefferson, Paralee Baldwin of West Jefferson, Floye Smith of Mt. Dora, Florida, Norette Brinegar of Crumpler and Jean Testerman of Crumpler; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive.
