Keith, Martin, Anne and families:
Saddened to hear of your Dad's passing. He was an institution in West Jefferson and Ashe County. He was always such a delightful person and always took a personal interest in me and my siblings in our younger years when my mother took us to the store to buy shoes. In later years I was amazed at his memory as he recognized me when I came into the store with my own kids and he recalled the names of my brother and sister (asking about each one). Truly remarkable. I know this is a big loss for you. You have my thoughts and wishes for fond memories to be filing the coming days. TW

So sorry for your loss. Ralph and my Granny Goldie were great buddies and I have been going in the store since I was small. He was a most wonderful, friendly man with a warm smile for all. He will be sadly missed and West Jefferson will never be the same.

Ralph was a very compassinate man. I say this beacuse of what he done for my family. I am one of seven kids that that my parents had. My father died with ALS so during that time and after his death mom would take us kids to the Friendly Shoe Store to get shoes before school would start and Ralph would find shoes for everyone of us and Mom would pay what she could and Ralph would tell Mom pay the rest when she could.

I am so sorry for your loss. Although, I do not know your family personally, I would like to share some encouraging thoughts from the Bible. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Very soon now, we will never experience losing our loved ones in death and we will be able to see them again once they resurrected as per John 5:28-29. May these words give you a new hope.

Words cannot express how much we will miss Ralph, his warm smile and his presence at Warrensville United Methodist Church. It was Ralph's constant encouragement and kind words that kept me (Bonnie) on the Bible teaching rotation, even when I was so afraid speaking in public. Ralph's gentle manner always made us feel comfortable when we moved here five years ago. Our condolences go out to Venie and the family.

So sorry to hear about Ralph. HE was a generous and caring person. I can remember growing up he would come walking up the road and he make sure to talk to us. I would watch for him to come up the road. Ralph will be greatly missed. May God wrap his loving arms around you in this time of sorrow. Just remember that he will always be watching down on you. We don't have to tell you as a family just how special Ralph was. He was a good man who treated every one the same and treated them the same every time. He was always fair and understanding in his business. We will truly miss Ralph as a businessman and as a friend.
