Beverly,
My condolences to you and your family. I count myself lucky to have met you both while at Duke. It goes to show we never know who is sitting beside us at a restaurant unless we reach out to them. I learned of a strong couple who recently celebrated 50 years of marriage - an absolute rarity in this day and age. I was fortunate to meet Bob, experience his humor and learn many of his stories. It was easy to tell that you both were hard workers - both in each job you held and in your devotion to one another. You both serve as an excellent example of how marriage should be. I will not forget Bob - you both will remind me to give the best care possible to my patients, and to learn about their stories and their families. His peace and strength during our conversations deeply touched me.
My family and I have prayed for you and your family, and we will continue to do so in such difficult times. I hope that Stephanie and I can visit soon.

I am so sorry for your loss. Although, I do not know your family personally, I would like to share some encouraging thoughts from the Bible. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Very soon now, we will never experience losing our loved ones in death and we will be able to see them again once they resurrected as per John 5:28-29. May these words give you a new hope.
