B. James “Jim” Nelson, age 70 of Fleetwood, died Tuesday at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 3:00 P.M. at the Boone Family Funeral Home with Bob Richardson officiating. Masonic Rites will follow. The family will receive friends on Saturday at 2:30 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Boone Family Chapel. B. James “Jim” Nelson is survived by his daughter Jennifer Nelson Powers and her husband Scott Powers, his daughter Julie Nelson Miller and her husband Chris Miller, his #1 son James Nelson and his Yankee wife Maureen Nelson, seven grandchildren, Brother Bob, and a whole passel of friends and family. B. James “Jim” Nelson was born in 1944 in Miami Beach, Florida but is, and will always be, an Ashe County native at heart. After seeing the world while serving in the United States Air Force (and finding a wife along the way), he settled down to graduate from Appalachian State University, work thirty years for Skyline Telephone, help found the Fleetwood Volunteer Fire Department, serve with the Masonic Lodge and Shrine, and still manage to find time to be a great and loving father.
