Mr. Peyton Colvard, age 51, of Crumpler passed away Sunday morning, December 28, 2014 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at 1:00pm at Bald Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Ashley, Rev. David Lyalls, Speaker Jim Hartley and Speaker Sharon Kastle officiating. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Hill Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-9:00pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Bald Mountain Baptist Church. Mr. Colvard was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, September 11, 1963 to the late Jessie Emmett Colvard and Shelba Jean Sexton Colvard. After 30 years of service, Peyton retired from Ashe County Sheriff's Department as a Lieutenant. He was a Training Supervisor of the Narcotics Squad in western NC. He enjoyed watching Nascar and his favorite driver Dale Earnhardt. He was a member of New River Fire Department. He loved his life for the last 13 years at Twin Rivers Campground. Peyton was a member of Bald Mountain Baptist Church. Peyton enjoyed life. He was always laughing and joking around. He was a loving father, son and brother; he will be missed by all. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jackson Shane Colvard; a nephew, Sgt. Lance Roark. Mr. Colvard is survived by a daughter, Laken Colvard, of Crumpler; his mother, Shelba Jean Colvard, of Crumpler; a sister, Susan Carter and husband, Bill, of Jefferson; a brother, Dewayne Colvard and wife, Lisa, of Statesville; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will be meeting at the home of Bill & Susan Carter at 1102 Old Hwy 16 in Jefferson.
