Our deepest and sincerest condolences to the family. Words alone can not ease the pain when grieving the loss of a love one. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away". May God give you and your family comfort in your loving memories and in His promise that soon we will never experience losing our loved ones in death and we will be able to see them again once they resurrected as per John 5:28-29. May these words give you a new hope, with deepest sympathy and warmth of heart.

Some of my fondest childhood memories were at the farm in West Jefferson with Uncle Sherm, Aunt Vennie, Thomas, Joe, and Mary. All of them were so sweet and good to us. Thomas would hoist Bill and me up on the big work horses, take us on hay rides, let us play in the hay stacks and hunt for crawdads and frogs in the stream. He and Joe built each of us a bird house on one visit. In later years when I visited, I always left with a big bag of home grown vegetables. He was one of the kindest, gentlest, and generous men that I ever knew.

Tom Severt was one of the best men that I have ever known. He has always been very kind to me and my family. I am thankful he was there to share in special events in my life like my wedding, mom and dad's 50th anniversary and dad's 79th birthday celebration this past November. Tom will be missed by my family!!! Our loss in heaven's gain!!! Rest in peace, Tom!

Oh how I hate to hear this. I always enjoyed seeing Tom when I was playing music. He seemed to enjoy listening and even dancing some. I'm gonna miss him!

Thomas & Joe made our 'summer vacations' on Uncle Sherm's farm the best any two city kids could ever expect. We didn't go to the beach...we went to West Jefferson on the Creeper. They made sure there was a tire swing hanging from a stout limb of the big tree near the house. We got to 'help' with the milking, and we could sleep in while they tended to the farm. And the 'outdoor johnhouse...well.
Wonderful memories of Aunt Vinnie and Mary, Uncle Henry, Aunt DeEtte, Ruby, Grace, Kathleen, Clifford and all the other WJ family. And our own Severt made custom birdhouses to take back to Bristol. It just doesn't get any better than that.
On recent trips to Ashe County, we would bump down the gravel dirt road that led to Sherm's farm and there would be Thomas working in his garden and tending a few head of cattle. It was just like back in the day with his doing what he loved best.
My wife Sherry, son Will, and I extend our most heartfelt sympathy for this loss of a wonderful man.
