Michael D. Jones, age 54, died on Saturday, May 9, 2009 in Jefferson, NC after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Michael was born in Newark, NJ to late Mary and Thomas Jones. He grew up in Harwood Mines, PA; Ocean Springs, MS and overseas. He is survived by his wife Mary; adoptive mother Eunice Jones (adoptive father Larry deceased); sisters Barbara and Linda and brothers Larry and David; half brothers and sisters from Thomas Jones, previous marriage, survive as well as a large family of in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also mourn his passing. Friends also mourn Mike's death. Mike served in the United States Air Force and in civilian life worked as a long haul truck driver. Mike was loved by many and knew no strangers. His sense of humor, his kindness and his generosity will be remembered by all who met him. The visitation will be held on Monday evening with funeral service to be held on Tuesday morning at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel, 2005 Mt. Jefferson Road, West Jefferson, NC.
