I am so sorry to hear of Danny's passing. I worked with him at Hospice of Ashe County in the early 90s and loved watching his kind, compassionate manner with the clients. He was a joy to be around and valued others above himself. My husband remembers Danny as well--he made a difference in so many lives and we will always cherish the fact that we knew him.

Today I found out about Dan's passing away. He will be truly missed by many who have known him.. Danny was my first boss, when I was a relatively new RN in Home Health, years ago. I remember his compassion, humor, decency and what a kind intelligent teacher he was for me as his new employee. He was a great guide for my career. Years passed and paths diverged. Occasionally we would run into each other. Each time we would speak, his friendliness and caring were evident. Dan was a wonderful nurse, and always spoke lovingly of Karen and Ciara. I am sincerely sorry for your loss.

Our deepest and sincerest condolences to the family. Words alone can not ease the pain when grieving the loss of a love one. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away". May God give you and your family comfort in your loving memories and in His promise that soon we will never experience losing our loved ones in death and we will be able to see them again once they resurrected as per John 5:28-29. May these words give you a new hope, with deepest sympathy and warmth of heart.

Karen, Ciara and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I don't have the words that could possibly make this time better for you but please know I am praying for each of you.
When I think of Danny I always smile. Whatever the situation, good or bad, Danny brought hope and encouragement to those around him. Danny was a genuine friend who truly cared about others which is a rare thing to find in this world.. Danny supported me during one of the hardest times in my professional career and helped me realize what is really important.
Danny stood out from everyone else with his smile, laugh and just all around great personality. Anyone who knew Danny could never forget him and I know I never will. I look forward to seeing him again.

I am so very thankful to know that Danny is with Jesus and that we will all be family again in Heaven.
My heart and prayers are with you now and always, I love you dearly, Mae

He made a very hard job so much better, it did not matter what came through our doors, when Dan Rash was on duty, we could handle anything, I will miss the hugs, and the stories he would tell, a true friend he was, thank you family for sharing Dan with us, I feel sorry for those that did not get to meet Dan, my life was blessed because I did. Karen and family, I was so saddened to hear about Dan.He was such a good nurse and a good man.He took care of my husband when he was in Ashe Memorial MB unit several years ago and we just fell in love with him.Ever time we would see him out at Walmart or anywhere he would give us a hug and talk awhile. You and he came to our church several times. I saw him in Walmart a couple months after my husband went to heaven in August 2013 and he gave me a hug and told me we would see him again some day and Dan has got to see him before me. God is still in control ! Karen we WILL see them again but I know right now those words don't ease your pain and grief.Just know that you all will be in my thoughts and prayers that God will comfort you and heal your broken hearts. In Jesus Name.

Oh Dan how I miss you. I have missed you for a while as we went different ways after working at WRMC but this cuts a hole in my heart. I loved working with you and some of my favorite career memories have you right there with me. We worked so hard but so well together, could almost read each other's mind as to what we needed to do next. Dan you taught me a lot about nursing but you taught me more about life. Many conversations we had about spouses and children. Everything was right side up if our families were all good. The way you loved Karen and the strength of that relationship was a great example of a marriage between a man and a woman. I know you would have done anything for her and loved her fiercely and same with Ciara.
I remember the Halloween and the camp out you all came to. We loved it. So much fun and of course with you there Dan there was always a different spin on things and anything could happen and often did. All good though, just good times with friends
God bless you Karen and Ciara these are tough times. The great part is we will see Dan again someday soon. Until that time, Rest easy my friend I'll be there soon

Not only did I have the pleasure of getting to work with him, but I was also in the ER (with my boyfriend at the time), and he was absolutely wonderful from a patient and family perspective. One of the most caring nurses I have had the pleasure to come in contact with. Always made time to answer, talk to you, or just listen and lend a shoulder. His infectious smile and gentle, comforting voice will stay with me. I hope everyone can learn from him. What we will be losing, heaven will be gaining. What an angel he will be.
