Mr. Michael Dean Dixon, age 59, of Jefferson passed away Tuesday morning, March 15, 2016 at Wake Forest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2:00pm at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Steve LeaShomb, Rev. Tom Vestal, Rev. Dennis Love, Rev. Galgano, and Rev. Herb Parunak officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 6:00-8:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Dixon was born in Ashe County on Monday, April 30, 1956 to the late William Dean and Jessie Phillips Dixon. Mike was a member of Midway Baptist church. He worked in government management as: West Jefferson Town Manager, Jefferson Town Manager, Ashe County Manager, Magistrate and NC Employment Security Commission. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing his guitar, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather; he will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his father, William Dean Dixon. Mr. Dixon was survived by his wife of 35 years, Diane Barker Dixon, two daughters, Candace Dixon Carpenter and husband Shane, of Jefferson, and Shannon Dixon Cox and husband Douglas, of Wilkesboro, one step-grandson, Noah Carpenter, his mother, Jessie Phillips Dixon of Jefferson, one sister, Carolyn Dixon Jordan and husband Jene of High Point, two aunts, Ruth Absher, of Wytheville, VA, and Betty Caudill, of Fairfax, VA, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
