Obituary of Mary Jo Johnson

Mrs. Mary Jo Hudspeth Johnson, age 83, of West Jefferson passed away Thursday morning, December 8, 2016 Forest Ridge Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1PM at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. John Elledge officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 11-1pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Johnson was born in Surry County on May 8, 1933 to the late William and Lola Reece Hudspeth. Mary Jo Johnson lived an extraordinary life. She and Tommy shared a great love story, from their courtship to raising a family to full time ministry for the Lord to the retirement years and the joy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made friends everywhere she went and truly enjoyed her life. When hardship and trouble came she would always rise to the occasion. Her legacy is one of faithfulness and love. Everyone who knew her is the beneficiary. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband; Thomas E Johnson, two sons; Michael Johnson and Jill of Fleetwood, and Mitchell Johnson and wife Kay of Banner Elk, two daughters; Chris Johnson Badger of St. Augustine, FL, and Stacey Johnson of Marshall, NC, eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Medi Home Hospice, PO Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640.
