He retired from the United States Navy, where he served as a meteorologist for twenty years. During his naval career Mr. Allinder was stationed in Pensacola, FL, Keflavik Iceland, Guantanamo Bay Cuba and proudly served aboard the aircraft carriers USS Midway and USS America and the Amphibious Assault ship USS Saipan. His final duty station before retirement was the Naval Atlantic Meteorology and Oceanography Center in Norfolk, VA.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Speir Allinder; three nephews; four cousins, his mother-in-law, brother-in-law and a sister-in-law
Mr. Allinder was passionate about golf, hiking, bicycle touring and being out on the river, he also loved history, earth sciences and was an avid reader. He loved all dogs and frequently helped foster dogs for various rescue groups.
Mr. Allinder had a terrific sense of humor and never took life too seriously. He was constantly challenging himself to learn new things and try new adventures with his wife Cathy. Whether it was visiting national parks out west, dogsledding in MN, living on a Windjammer of the coast of ME or bicycle touring in MI: Mr. Allinder embraced each new adventure.
Mr. Allinder loved to see others succeed in life and was always encouraging and supportive to everyone he met. He believed in others when, at times, they did not believe in themselves. As one person commented "Tom left his mark on the world and didn't even know it." He will be missed by all who knew him.
